I work and can only manage appointments in the evening?
That is no problem we will arrange to see you at a time that is mutually convenient.  We work in both the evenings and at weekends.

How do I find out what building and planning regulations I need to take account of?
Not all building works or changes of use need planning permission. Some works are classed as permitted development and others require planning consent.  Your local authority building control department can help you.  It is always advisable to speak to them in the early stages of your planning so that you can obtain any necessary consents.

I live in a conservation area/ listed building what consents do I need?
Your local authority building control department and conservation officers can advise you.

What causes delays in my building work?
Many people are concerned that delays will happen during their build.  Typical reasons for delays include:

• Increasing or changing the work specification once the work has started
• Delays to deliveries (e.g. kitchen units, bathroom sanitary ware)
• Outside trades people (e.g. aerial engineers, alarm fitters, electricians) can cause scheduling problems and delays.

We will work with you to help you avoid unnecessary delays.


What drawings and plans do I need to commence work?
This depends on your project. If it is a simple kitchen or bathroom fitting then sketch drawing by a competent draughtsman should suffice. If it is a complex project with lots of high level detailing required, accurate and detailed drawings would be necessary.


Can I buy my own materials?
You have the choice here:

1. You can either purchase them yourself and you take full responsibility for the specification, delivery and quality and make sure all materials are on site on the agreed dates in the correct quantities.
2. We can purchase the materials on your behalf.  We ask that all material costs are paid for at time of purchase.

Can I see examples of your work before going ahead?
If you are happy with the estimate we provide we will arrange for you to see other work we have completed.
